Dr. Colston was raised in Arlington, Texas and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, Texas.
After his optometric education, he completed his clinical rotations at the Bob Michael Veterans Affairs Hospital in Illinois, the Bond-Wroten Eye Clinic in Louisiana, the lighthouse for the blind and the Bowden Eye Institute in San Antonio, Texas. He is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is also an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association.
Dr. Ben Colston has a special interest in ocular surface disease, dry eye syndrome and meibomian gland dysfunction. His optometric externships focused on fitting scleral contact lenses for kerataconnus and other irregular corneas. In addition to hard contact lenses, Dr. Colston keeps up with the latest technology in soft contact lenses. He is an expert at helping patients select the proper lenses that fit their specific lifestyle.
He lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife. He is active in medical mission trips and has provided eye care to patients in Guatemala. He is an avid sports fan and likes to watch the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his church community group, playing golf, and running.
